cold weather bass fishing?

Just got my first nice baitcaster for xmas (a curado 200) and Im dying to use it. What would you use on a pond where the ice just melted? Is a carolina rig with a 4 inch water melon worm a good choice? Ive heard I need to go small and slow. Is that right?

In a pond I would try a wacky rig or a drop shot….specially if ice has just melted. Water is cold so the fish are not going to be very active, and will want small meals. Or a CR with a real small weight & some kink of small bait that will float. Color will depend on the water color/clarity.
When you think you are fishing slow enough SLOW down some more.
Good Luck and some kind of plastic craw might be worth trying as well….bass will eat a craw no mater what time of year it is.
