Some fishing boat question ???????

The exit of my trolling motor was a male plug and the plug was a woman, so I replaced so the shop was female and jack were men. After trolling motor stopped working and no power is getting to it. If I switch back, it will work again?? My fishfinder worked fine when the temperature gauge on it began to say that water is 140 degrees or something. What can this be? Also my areator stopped working, and when I flip switch I do not here anything?? Another problem is that my cigarette lighter does not work anymore and there are 2 wires attached and a third are not linked, but I am not sure whether it is the easier or not? Last question How can I replace the carpet in my bass boat?

it sounds like you switching wires around and shorting the battery system off. It is a DC systems no AC system. DC means direct current and wire can not switch around. I would first go back to trolling motor connection and make sure the red is to red and black to black …. ck your work with mult meter and continuity tester on. Place mutli meter on continuity part and place a test lead from red battery cable and test lead to red wire trolling motor and mult meter should buzz. if not, then your cable crosses. for carpet it's just the question of removing trim, seat etc, and then remove the carpet .. it can be glue down.
