Pike fishing in the river Lee – Are there good pike there?
I’m fishing there on saturday for pike, and have bought heavy line, lures, trace wire, forceps etc. Can anyone think of anything else I might need, and/or give me some good techniques, and whether or not there are good pike in there. Also could someone tell me the difference between Jack Pike and normal Pike? Also what lures might work, and please be simple, this is my first experience of Predator/lure fishing.
Its the river lee in south east england, running through ware and bishops stortford. I’ll be fishing in near ware, from the bank.
Also what size does a pike have to be to be considered a Jack Pike, and how large can I expect from the river Lee?
Are you talking about Lee River, MB? I can tell you that “Jack” or “Jackfish” are just names for the same fish: a “Northern Pike”. They will basically bite anything that moves – I like to use something with a treble hook. Try near marshy areas where grasses are growing out of the water, and keep the lure moving, ideallly by leaving it out behind a slowly moving boat (i.e. trolling).
