sea / sand snakes in Sanya China?

day we went fishing Sanya beach and caught a Milki white snake, I have tried to find it on google too yahoo and still cannot find what it's called! As I brought it on the beach the local ppl started going mad shout poison poison kills you dead! this snake seemed to Milki be white / yellow bucket and about 2 feet long it had teath and a little hard on the hook remover, when it was released it seemed to Burry his own backwards into the sand out to sea! any ideas anyone please, and it also seemed to be makeing a mucus type substance around its body
