Spectacular Summer Beach Holiday Spots

Of course a summer vacation could include all sorts of other places, such as a visit to the famous city, some high altitudes hiking in the mountains or the time spent in one of the famous Lakeland areas of the world as the Italian lakes like Garda and Como, the Canadian Great Lakes or the Swedish fjords. But most are likely to be some type of beach, which is involved in most people's summer holidays. The Spanish Canary Islands are a small group of islands that have their own selection of beaches, which gives holidaymakers plenty of choice, regardless of their preferences.

So what is it about a beach that attracts so many people? After all the warm sunny weather may find in most places, and swimming opportunities exist in many inland areas, either in lakes or rivers. The beach has several unique features which may contribute to their attraction. Firstly there is the sand itself. The soft sand is comfortable to lie on, feels good to walk on, and of course provides a great play environment for young children. But beaches are not only popular, with pebbles and rocks beaches also prove attractive. The views are in coastal areas is also a factor. There is something appealing about a forecast where the soil has ceased and the sea stretches out indefinitely. Imagination run wild about what can be above the horizon, and the heartbeat of the inner world can be left behind. Of course the sea itself plays a role. Unlike lakes, the ocean is quite a more dramatic and powerful animals. Gentle swell or breaking waves make the sea and the constantly changing environment, and one that can either be just looked at or made use of as part in other recreational activities. Fishing, swimming, surfing, sailing, diving, kayaking and windsurfing are just some of the sports and pastimes that make use of the sea. Another aspect is of course wildlife. Either in water or forward it along the coast, the sea supports a myriad of life forms, which vary throughout the world. Beaches can be a heaven naturists at all times of the year.

For those seeking a place to lie in the sun are beaches all over the world which easily meets this requirement. From the beaches of the Spanish Costa Blanca to Australia's Gold Coast, long sandy beaches are everywhere it seems. For the ultimate in a quiet sandy beach of 1000's Maldives islands may be the ideal. Small islands some with room for a dwelling and is completely surrounded by soft white sand, this may be true lovers dream. On the island of Fuerteventura, are perhaps some of the best Canarian sandy beaches. In the northern part of the island is the largest beach, stretching over several kilometers south of Corralejo. The waters here seem natural reserve of the Isla Lobos can be a turquoise blue and soft sand when home across the dunes for over 2 km. The present almost a desert scene out of the country against the hills of extinct volcanoes like Volcan de la Olive.

Sports also has their favorite beach locations. From surfing beaches in Hawaii as North Shore, Oahu, home of surfing, where huge waves provide the ultimate excitement of surfers during the winter. Waimea Beach is another place where massive waves scare the life out of all but the bravest surfers. In the Canary Islands Surfing is also a popular beach activity, although the waves do not compare with the size of those in Hawaii. However, it is one of Europe's favorite surf sites Sotavento in the south of Fuerteventura and Playa de Famara in Tenerife both popular spots.

As far as landscape and nature are concerned, there are many spectacular beaches around the world, some of which are hardly visited because of their remoteness. Africa has some amazing places like the beaches of the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar. Paje beach on the east coast is a seemingly endless stretch of white sand surrounded by palms, with a forecast of the Indian Ocean. In Britain, there may not be the great expanses of beach areas, benefiting from some major countries, but there are some equally spectacular spots. Kynance Cove in Cornwall is an example of a less dramatic beach reached by a steep path and Three Cliffs beach on the Gower peninsula in Wales, is regarded by some as one of the most beautiful beaches in Britain.

On the northwest coast of Gran Canaria, beaches are few and far between as steep rugged cliffs plunge into the Atlantic, but these places have their own beauty too. Driving north along the coast road toward the town Agaete, the traveler is presented with some fantastic views.

Finally, let us not forget those children, those for whom the beach presents the perfect playground. Praia de Rocha near the town of Portimao on the Algarve Portugal is a favorite family vacation spot. Along the coast of Spain del Sol are many golden sandy top group of European tourists. Two examples are in Villajoyosa, where El Paradise beach has almost a mile of golden sand to enjoy, and further south near Alicante Playa Muchavista and Playa de San Juan form a sweeping arc of nearly 4 miles of beautiful sandy beach.

In the Canary Islands, the southern part of Gran Canaria is perhaps some of the best children beaches. The vast sand dunes of Maspalomas and the long sandy beach in Playa del Ingles are both ideal places for children to play the day away in the sun, sand and surf.

These are just a few examples of the best beaches around the world and an illustration of how resorts in Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Gran Canaria can offer equally spectacular alternatives in one place. About the Author
