When it says lure / line weight on a rod, what does it mean?
I am looking at piles at Bass Pro Shop, and it speaks aboit lure / Line weight. Is that the max weight that the rod handle? Or what is exactly meant by that?
A rod designed to throw the furthest in some weight, lure, and to work best (bend when you pull, but not bottom out) with some force into line. None of the foregoing, the maximum or minimum rather just how they feel it will work best, and intended as a guideline when deciding what rod to buy, what size wheels to match it with. If a rod is rated for 10 pounds line and half-ounce lure, it will work fine with 8 or 12 pounds line. Your throws with quarter-ounce lure will be a little shorter, and the rod can overload a little bit if you use one ounce lures, but no harm will result in both cases.
