WALL EYES! How can I get some variation in my crawler belts?
I recently started making my own crawler harnesses for walleye fishing in the future spring, I have the Snell down, I made them with 2 hooks, then 5 beads, then the knife, then another gem, and I've had a lot of fun making 'em, but I am ready for more, what can I do to add to my crawler harnesses that will take me a little more time (I'm trying to find things to do while it's winter here in Vermont and my broken ankle makes it difficult to go ice fishing)
I tie my belt up in different lengths from 36 "to 60". I also tie some with different sizes of hooks, either 2's or 4's, and some with a treble hook at the end. I also tie some with a single hook, for use with a leech or a minnow. When you add the beads, I use different size and / or color beads on some and some I will add a float. I will tie a swivel on the end, rather than tying a bow. Also, I usually put a quick change clevis, and snap the knife when I'm out fish. This is how I prepare my braces for a season …. hope some of this helps you. I like making my own bottom bouncers and jig heads also …. if you jig fish, and you do not make your own, it does not take a lot to get started making them ….. you could share some of their original cost with a buddy.
