What is causing my car to fish tale?
When I drive on snow covered or wet roads my 99 Nissan Altima goes through a movement like I am on ice skates or skis (any speed over 40mp/h). Since this problem has started (it is recent – has not always been a problem), it has been aligned and I have new tires designed for all weather conditions. Yes, I have hit holes and bumps in the past, but those occurrences didn’t seem to cause a problem and the car rides fine when roads are dry. Oh yeah, I also have added sand bags in the trunk and this didn’t solve the problem either. Any ideas?
Sounds to me like one of your rear brakes is locking up. There really is nothing else that can cause it, except maybe a bad bearing on one of the rear axles. Sounds like somehow, one of the back wheels is wanting to lock up for some reason.
