rods fishing

How can I take my fishing rods on a plane?
I'm going to Florida next month.
I think I would buy a 3 "or 4" PVC pipe, about 6 "longer than your bars, set with PVC cement, a cap on one end and a threaded cap on the other (very inexpensive). Rap your rods in bubble wrap and drop them into the glass. Be careful that the ends are well padded, so they will not slip around the pipe. Tape threaded end. Box your wheels and tacklebox. Then send them to Florida via UPS or FED EX. They will be there when you arrive. You can buy ins. if you want. Like ed7661, I do not trust airlines with my rods. Hope this helps! Plus after the journey, you've got a nifty pole case.
